SCDI COMMENT ON EMPLOYMENT FIGURES

Commenting on today’s Scottish employment figures, SCDI Chief Executive, Dr Lesley Sawers said:

“The news that unemployment in Scotland has fallen by 12,000 over the last three months is a very positive development, demonstrating increased confidence of employers in Scotland.

“SCDI remains concerned by the challenges faced by young people in finding employment. Ensuring we avoid a ‘lost generation’ must be a key priority. SCDI will continue to play our part by working closely with Scotland's largest employers, the Smith Group and the Scottish Government.

“SCDI remains concerned by the stalling of economic recovery, both across the UK and the EU. Returning to economic prosperity must remain a key concern of the Scottish and Westminster Governments.”
