SCDI has today announced the appointment of Geoff Duke as the Director of the Scottish Cities Alliance.

Geoff’s role will be to co-ordinate delivery of the aspirations of Scotland’s seven cities and the Scottish Government and ultimately to oversee the development of shared commercial projects and investment propositions to enable large-scale investment in Scotland’s cities which will promote growth and protect and create jobs.  Funded jointly by the cities and by the Scottish Government, Geoff will be based within SCDI’s Policy Team.

Geoff is a Chartered Civil Engineer with almost 30 years experience in planning and economic development in both the public and private sectors. Geoff comes to the Scottish Cities Alliance from Glasgow City Council, where his role was Project Manager of Sustainable Glasgow.

Commenting on the appointment, Deputy First Minister and Minister for Cities, Nicola Sturgeon said:
“The Scottish Cities Alliance will create new economic partnerships, get more investment, jobs and  businesses in our cities and help Scotland's cities compete more successfully on the international stage. I welcome Geoff’s appointment which will help the Alliance deliver that ambitious programme.”

Scotland’s seven cities are: Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, Perth and Stirling.
