SCDI has today (Sunday 20 May) announced the appointment of Lady Susan Rice,
Managing Director of Lloyds Banking Group Scotland, as the organisation's new, and its first female, President.

Lady Rice brings a breadth of experience to the organisation and a passion for financial and social inclusion. She is non-executive director of the Bank of England, Big Society Capital and Scotland's Futures Forum, Senior Independent Director of Scottish and Southern Energy and a member of the First Minister’s Council of Economic Advisors.

Commenting on her appointment, Lady Rice said,

"It’s a genuine privilege to be taking over the Presidency of SCDI. SCDI has a longstanding record of driving forward the economic policy agenda in a practical way, encouraging us to broaden our aspirations internationally, and bringing diverse groups together to find common ground.

“I’m proud to have been asked to head the organisation. Its aims are very much in line with my own values. For example, SCDI's network of Young Engineers and Science Clubs encourage thousands of young people to reach high to achieve their potential. These are something I’m keen to promote throughout my Presidency.”

Commenting on the appointment, SCDI Chairman, Robert Armour said,

"We are delighted to welcome Lady Rice as SCDI's first female President. At this critical time for Scotland, SCDI will see great benefits from Lady Rice's leadership and experience in delivering a sustainable and prosperous economic future for Scotland."
