SCDI COMMENT ON ABERDEEN WESTERN PERIPHERAL ROUTE DECISION

Commenting on today’s announcement that the legal challenges against the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route have been overcome, Colin Parker, Chair, SCDI North East Committee, said:

"Aberdeen is one of the fastest growing cities in the UK and our industries are generating economic growth for Scotland and the UK. We need infrastructure which reinforces our competitiveness as a global energy hub in the long-term and businesses agree that the Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route is the most critical piece of the jigsaw.

“The route is overwhelmingly supported by businesses, the public and local representatives in the North East, by the Scottish Government and Parliament, and the decisions have now been endorsed by the highest courts in Scotland and the UK – it is time that this sorry saga was brought to an end and work started on this vital project for our economy."
