SCDI COMMENT ON HS2 PHASE TWO ANNOUNCEMENT

Commenting on the announcement of the second phase of High Speed 2, SCDI Chief Executive, Professor Lesley Sawers said:

“SCDI recognises the significant long-term commitment which the UK Government is making to the development of high-speed rail and welcomes the joint work which is now underway with the Scottish Government towards a national network including Scotland.

“SCDI evidence shows that improved connectivity with cities in the rest of the UK will improve the productivity of businesses in Scotland. While the plans announced today will be of substantial economic benefit, a full network linking with Edinburgh and Glasgow would maximise the benefits of this investment for Scotland and the UK.”
