SCDI CONGRATULATES PERTH AS SCOTLAND'S SEVENTH CITY

Commenting on the announcement that Perth is to become Scotland’s seventh city to mark The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, SCDI Chief Executive, Dr Lesley Sawers said:

“SCDI congratulates Perth on its successful bid to become Scotland’s seventh city. SCDI supported Perth throughout its bid and recognise the considerable economic benefits resulting from city status.

“Perth is a vibrant, modern city, with a strong heritage within Scotland and an expanding international outlook. Re-gaining of city status will strengthen Perth’s economy on both the domestic and international stage.

“Scotland’s cities are key driver of Scotland’s economy. The economic impact generated by the creation of the City of Perth will benefit all of Scotland, particularly the distinct geographical area to become the Perth City Region.

SCDI has been working closely with Scotland’s cities and the Scottish Government to develop the Scottish Cities Alliance. We look forward to welcoming Perth into this collaborative work.”
